Mmmm macaroni and cheese, my favorite! Before Friday I had never made it before but luckily I could trust the BBC Good Food recipe (and my mum's knowledge.)
The hardest part of the recipe was making the cheese sauce. You need to make sure that you don't put too much flour in the pan or it with be lumpy. As I had never made macaroni and cheese before, I made this exact mistake! I started off by making my pasta and then I started to put the ingredients in the pan to make the sauce. My mixture began to look lumpy so I started again.
This time I added my flour, butter and milk in very gradually. I didn't use all of the milk because my mixture was the right consistency for me. If you want your mixture to be thinner all you have to do is add some more milk. The key is to keep stirring and don't take your eyes off the pan!
I served this meal with some bread with leftover cheese - I didn't want to waste it. I also did some without cheese but with some oil. Then I put it in the oven for five minutes and it tasted delicious! The bread I used was called White Bloomer Bread. We had some salad to go with it as well.This meal was exquisite and I can't wait to make it again soon!
